Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) is about getting students to think. And it does. But what else does it do? In this talk, I explore the downstream effects of BTC on professional learning communities, teacher and student affect, classroom culture, and—wait for it—student performance (GASP!). Drawing on emerging research and stories from classrooms around the world, this session looks beyond the practices themselves to examine what happens when thinking becomes the norm.
