What keeps students in the game instead of checking out? Come join us as we reveal the secrets behind building successful Thin Slices. The practice of sequencing tasks through carefully incremented steps may be one of the most powerful ways to build and maintain FLOW in a Thinking Classroom. There’s no such thing as a perfect thin slice, but intentional sequencing is far more connected and responsive than the fragmented way most curricula organize concepts. Thin-slicing helps students make sense of the big ideas by experiencing mathematics as connected, coherent thinking rather than isolated skills. In this session, you’ll experience thin-slicing as a learner, examine what makes it work, and begin building your own task sequences to keep every learner thinking and moving forward.
