Building Thinking Classrooms can transform student learning — but it can also create confusion for families who are used to traditional math instruction. In this 55‑minute session, we explore the communication strategies, mindset shifts, and practical tools that help us move from defending BTC to helping families truly see the strengths in their children’s thinking.
Through shared stories, three key paradigm shifts, and concrete examples (notes, homework, and “you’re not teaching”), we will examine how to make learning visible, reduce back‑and‑forth emails, support vulnerable learners who may withdraw early in BTC, and build trust with families and admin.
This workshop is designed for educators who want to communicate with clarity, confidence, and compassion as their BTC practice grows — and who want families to become partners in celebrating students’ thinking.
