Too often when students are unable to retrieve a multiplication fact from memory, they resort to skip counting to figure it out rather than thinking multiplicatively about relationships to other nearby facts or to breaking apart the factors in flexible ways that are more efficient to them. Participants will learn about the learning trajectory from counting strategies to additive strategy of skip counting to deriving basic facts using multiplicative reasoning.  Further, participants will walk away with routines and games that can be implemented within a BTC classroom that help facilitate this fact fluency journey for each and every student.
